Responsibilities included: Unit Leader of Energy Planning Unit, supervising two full-time staff and a college intern, coordinating Iowa's Comprehensive Energy Plan development and the implementation of Iowa's Home Energy Rating System, planning and managing energy programs, coordinating the preparation of the Energy Bureau's State Energy Conservation Program and Energy Extension Service Plan and quarterly reports for the Department of Energy, preparing the Energy Bureau's annual operating budget, overseeing the purchase, installation, and use of the Energy Bureau's computer systems, designing computer spreadsheets and databases to organize and track energy projects, occasional speaking engagements on energy retrofit and energy efficient construction, responding to consumer energy retrofit and energy efficient construction questions, and designed new office layout and coordinated office systems ordering and installation on up to three occasions.

Several new homes were guaranteed by the builder to heat and cool for less than $100 per year. Currently designing new homes with a computer aided design (CAD) system. Architectural photography services have included: Preferred Construction Services, Inc., and the Des Moines Pella Window Store.
Web site development has included the design of the National Association of State Energy Officials, the Residential Energy Services Network, Energy Rated Homes of Iowa, American Lung Association of Iowa's Healthy House, Crossroads International Communications, and the DOE Reduce Swimming Pool Energy Costs home pages.
